After a release, the real marketing work for a musician starts. You have to promote your songs, interact with fans, provide interview materials, and make sure your branding stays on point. This week alone required creating an electronic press kit, videos for Spotify Canvas, and creating a biography for the website.
For an artist, stacking multiple creative processes on top of each other can be taxing on your limited time, content strategy, and energy. Finding unique ways to generate content, engage your audience, and establish your brand can make or break the rollout of a release.
Instagram and Live Engagement
This weekend, my client dylAn went on Instagram Live to promote his EP Florida Daydream, Euphoric Horizon: Side A, and answer questions from his 12,800 followers. A typical method to quickly engage with fans, get feedback on a release and promote your songs. Fans asked great questions like:
1. "What inspired the name 'Shape of Sadness' for your upcoming album?"
2. "How does your skateboarding background influence your music?"
3. "Can you tell us more about the collective aspect of your project?"
4. "Which artists have influenced your sound the most?"
I had the idea to screen-record the entire Instagram Live and use it as interview materials.
Capturing Raw Content: From Live to Text
However, instead of reviewing and annotating the 18-minute livestream, I uploaded it privately to YouTube to autocaption the video. After YouTube auto-captions the video and I proofread it by reviewing the video, I have a raw text file of everything said during the Instagram Live.

AI Analysis: Turning Raw Data into Insights

The last step is uploading the text file into Claude. Claude gives me the ability to summarize and filter the live stream quickly. From here, I can pull dylAn's answers to create various materials. Based on the interview, here are some key elements we extracted:
Mood Board: dylAn mentioned the visual aesthetic of his EP as "bright, warm, and sunny," with a "Florida daydream" vibe. He also referenced Wes Anderson's directorial style, suggesting a quirky, colorful, and meticulously composed visual theme.
Similar Music: dylAn cited influences ranging from the Grateful Dead to alternative indie pop, indicating a diverse sound that blends classic rock elements with contemporary indie sounds.
Vibes for his EP: He described the EP as having an "overall day feel," with the tracklist progression mimicking a day from morning to night. The music evokes feelings of warmth, nostalgia, and introspection.
Biography Elements: dylAn revealed his Afro-Latino heritage, his journey from skateboarding to music after an injury, and his concept of "Shape of Sadness" as not just an album but a collective movement exploring human emotions.
Crafting Authentic Materials
Using these AI-generated insights, we can now create:
1. An Electronic Press Kit (EPK) highlighting dylAn's unique background, musical influences, and the concept behind "Shape of Sadness."
2. A website biography that tells the compelling story of his transition from skateboarding to music and his vision for his art.
3. Social media content that aligns with the "Florida daydream" aesthetic and engages fans with the emotional journey of his music.
4. Visual branding elements inspired by the Wes Anderson-esque style he admires, incorporating bright, warm colors and meticulously composed imagery.
The Art of AI-Assisted Content Creation
By combining the authenticity of live fan interactions with the analytical power of AI, we've created a wellspring of content that truly represents dylAn's voice and vision. This approach not only saves time but also ensures that all promotional materials are deeply rooted in the artist's own words and ideas.
Continuous Engagement and Iteration
This process doesn't end here. We can continue to use Instagram Live sessions, AI transcription, and analysis to keep dylAn's promotional content fresh and responsive to fan interests. It's a dynamic, iterative approach that keeps the artist connected with their audience while maintaining a consistent brand message.
By embracing AI and social media, we've transformed a simple Instagram Live session into several pieces of authentic, multi-purpose content. This approach not only streamlines the content creation process but also ensures that every piece of promotional material is grounded in the artist's true voice and fan interactions. Music promotion has changed drastically just in the last 4 years and the combination of live fan engagement, AI assistance, and human creativity will be key to standing out in a crowded musical landscape.
